CROS & BiCROS Hearing Aids

Restore hearing in your bad ear with CROS & BiCROS hearing aids.

CROS and BiCROS hearing aids are ideal for people who have partial or severe hearing loss in one or both ears. If you have one ear working as normal and a deaf ear, CROS hearing aids may be your best option. But if you are deaf in one ear and also have a little bit of hearing loss in your ‘good ear’ then BiCROS hearing aids could be the solution.

CROS hearing aids are a lot like generic hearing aids. Except that they are placed in the good ear where they capture and transmit the sound to the ear with hearing loss. So that the deaf ear can hear the sounds. CROS stands for ‘Contra-lateral Routing of Signal’.

In many cases, someone who feels deaf in one ear may actually have a little bit of hearing loss in their ‘good’ ear. But not enough to warrant a full hearing aid.

This is where BiCROS hearing aids come in. BiCROS hearing aids work much the same way as CROS hearing aids. But instead of just transmitting to the deaf ear, the BiCROS hearing aid will be programmed to meet the level of hearing loss in the good ear. BiCROS stands for ‘Bilateral with Contra-lateral Routing of Signal’.

You’ll no longer need headphones to listen to music or to watch TV, and there will be no annoying feedback on the phone.
Most Bluetooth hearing aids come with an app you can download onto your smartphone, which you can use to discreetly and easily adjust the settings.
Most Bluetooth hearing aids are compatible with Android-based phones (using version 10.0 and above) and iPhones. Along with Apple’s iOS systems in general. Meaning you can connect seamlessly with all of your favourite smartphones and audio devices — including televisions and tablet computers.
And if you like, you can stream sounds to just one hearing aid. Keeping the other one free for sounds in the room.
If you have wireless hearing aids that don’t allow for direct streaming then you can get a Bluetooth hearing aid adapter called a ‘streamer’ to do this.
A streamer will provide a communications link between your wireless hearing aids and any Bluetooth-enabled device. Streamers are usually worn around the neck or placed in a pocket for hands-free convenience.
