Behind-The-Ear (BTE) Hearing Aids

BTE hearing aids for all types of hearing loss.

Restore your hearing with behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids. These hearing aids are traditionally the most effective and sit on the back of the outer ear. Hearing aids behind the ear are very powerful and suitable for people of all ages and for almost all severities of hearing loss.

Although behind-the-ear hearing aids represent some of the largest types of hearing aids, they are getting smaller as technology advances and some of the smallest designs are barely visible.

Many types of BTE hearing aids are available. Including closed fit types with earmolds and open fit types where only a receiver sits in the ear canal.

As the name suggests, a behind-the-ear hearing aid sits behind the ear and hooks over the top of it. A tube connects the hearing aid to either a receiver (open-fit) or an earmold (closed-fit) which then goes into the ear canal. For this reason they are also called ‘over the ear hearing aids’. They are the world’s most common type of hearing aid.

BTE hearing aids have more controls, features, capabilities, and battery power than any other type of hearing aid. Although with the smaller BTE models some of these advanced technologies may be limited.

BTE hearing aids are easy to hold and adjust, but they aren’t as cosmetically hidden as other types. Behind-the-ear hearing aids and unbeatable in terms of their functionality when it comes to dealing with hearing loss issues.

You’ll no longer need headphones to listen to music or to watch TV, and there will be no annoying feedback on the phone.
Most Bluetooth hearing aids come with an app you can download onto your smartphone, which you can use to discreetly and easily adjust the settings.
Most Bluetooth hearing aids are compatible with Android-based phones (using version 10.0 and above) and iPhones. Along with Apple’s iOS systems in general. Meaning you can connect seamlessly with all of your favourite smartphones and audio devices — including televisions and tablet computers.
And if you like, you can stream sounds to just one hearing aid. Keeping the other one free for sounds in the room.
If you have wireless hearing aids that don’t allow for direct streaming then you can get a Bluetooth hearing aid adapter called a ‘streamer’ to do this.
A streamer will provide a communications link between your wireless hearing aids and any Bluetooth-enabled device. Streamers are usually worn around the neck or placed in a pocket for hands-free convenience.
